  • British auto executive Paul Stowe stands by the body of a Taxi cab in SMA factory plant, in Fengjing, outside Shanghai, China, on October 24, 2008. Stowe oversees SMA, the joint venture between Britain's Manganese Bronze Holdings PLC, owner of London Taxi International, and Geely Group Holdings, one of China's biggest independent automakers, that will produce London Taxi's famed black cabs in China. London Taxi International, the original producer of the cabs, turned to China to drive overseas expansion. More than 8,000 London Taxis will be produced from the Chinese factory, more than double the annual output of the firm's historical factory plant in Conventry, England. Most of these cars will go to places like Singapore, Dubai, Moscow, that covet the image associated with the London Taxis' tradition of good service and durability. London Taxi International will continue to build 90 percent of the Taxi cabs used in Britain at Coventry. Photo by Lucas Schifres/Pictobank
