Banteay Srei (or Banteay Srey, meaning Citadel of women) is a 10th century Cambodian temple, built largely of red sandstone, and dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Angkor used to be the seat of the Khmer empire, which flourished from approximately the ninth century to the thirteenth century. The ruins of Angkor temples are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
